How to Prevent Beach Umbrella Fails?

How to Prevent Beach Umbrella Fails?

Few things can ruin a beach day faster than your umbrella taking flight, collapsing in the wind, or refusing to remain upright. Weve all witnessed it - an umbrella cartwheeling down the shore while its owner chases after it like something out of a comedy movie. While it might make for some funny viewing but definitely wont add fun or relaxation into ones day at the beach!

Before hitting the beach this season, lets examine some of the most frequently occurring beach umbrella missteps - and how we can avoid them altogether.

Fail #1: Flying Umbrella

You just set up your umbrella, sit back in your chair, and take that first sip of a cold drink. Suddenly, a gust of wind picks up and - whoosh! - your umbrella becomes a runaway kite. Not only is this embarrassing, but a flying umbrella could lead to serious injuries if it hits someone!

Most often, the problem lies within how an umbrella has been set up - not with its physical construction itself! If the pole or anchor isnt deep enough in the sand to give enough support against wind gusts, even moderate breezes could easily lift off its base in one gust of air!

Twist instead of stabbing. Instead of pressing straight down on an umbrella pole, use a twisting motion to secure it into the sand more deeply. Use high-quality beach umbrella anchors. These devices grip the sand to hold your umbrella down during windy conditions and keep its position stable. Position it properly. Aim your umbrella into the wind so gusts can press it against the surface instead of lifting it up out of sand. This ensures its success!

AMMSUN’s beach umbrellas include sand anchors and tilt mechanisms to make setup quick and safe - it only takes minutes!

Fail #2: Broken Frame

One of your umbrella ribs snaps with a heartbreaking crack when opening it for use or it bends awkwardly after just a few uses, rendering your umbrella useless.

Cheap umbrellas often use fragile metal or plastic ribs that cannot withstand wind pressure. Combine that with rough handling techniques (forcing it open against resistance) and you have an inevitable recipe for instant failure.

Make an investment in quality. Choose umbrellas made of fiberglass or rust-proof steel ribs - flexible enough to flex in response to wind without snapping in half! Don’t force it. If your umbrella seems stuck during its opening or closing process, take time to assess why before forcing anything further - force could end up snapping ribs or damaging its canopy, leading to costly repairs down the line. Note the wind. Even the strongest umbrella has its limits. If the gusts become unbearable, pack the umbrella away and opt for an enjoyable stroll instead.

To enhance wind resistance and safety, AMMSUN selects fiberglass or steel ribs according to the specific structure of each umbrella.

Fail #3: Flimsy Pole

At first glance, an umbrella appears fine...until you notice its pole is bowing like a straw in the wind.

Thin or low-grade aluminum poles can warp easily with consequences like never straightening back out again.

By opting for thicker poles with diameters at least 1.1 inches, stronger structures will be provided. Choose materials which resist corrosion. Powder-coated steel or anti-rust aluminum is typically more reliable. Reinforce where necessary. In windy conditions, consider adding an AMMSUN sand bag as additional anchor weight to strengthen anchoring points.

Fail #4: Unstable Tilt

You attempt to adjust the tilt for more shade, but its mechanism fails or becomes stuck and won’t hold in its desired spot - before you know it, your umbrella droops limply to one side without providing adequate protection!

A variety of factors - frequent adjustments, exposure to sand and saltwater and poor-quality tilt joints all play a role. Over time these joints wear down or corrode and begin failing.

Select an effective tilt system made of metal. It tends to be stronger than plastic models. Rinse after every use to avoid damaging build-up of dirt and salt particles that could accumulate over time and damage joints. A quick rinse with fresh water should suffice. Don’t over-tilt. In strong winds, keeping your umbrella upright is often safer than tilting too far forward.

AMMSUN umbrellas feature simple push-button tilt systems constructed of robust materials - ideal for making fast adjustments without hassle!

Fail #5: The Sun Sneak

Here is where failure happens - even after spending all day under your umbrella you still end up sunburned despite your best efforts! To explain it: the sun sneaks past it.

Not all umbrellas provide equal shade - some canopies made of thin fabric don’t effectively block UV rays while the sun's reflection off water surfaces further increases exposure.

Take note of UPF rating. UPF indicates how effective fabrics block harmful UV rays. Ideally, UPF 50+ fabrics offer maximum protection. Opt for larger coverage. A wider canopy (6-8 feet or wider) means greater shade coverage throughout the day as sun shifts throughout its course. Reposition regularly. Just as the sun moves throughout the day, your umbrella should too if it wants to provide full shade coverage. Make adjustments every hour or so in order to remain fully shaded.

Every AMMSUN umbrella canopy is specially treated to achieve a UPF 50+ rating for excellent sun protection.

Fail #6: Short-Lived Shade

Your umbrella might look great for one season before discoloring and fraying in subsequent ones.

Exposure to sunlight, salt water and moisture is hard on fabrics if theyre not treated to be UV and fade resistant - which will eventually result in their colors washing out rapidly.

Go for quality fabric. Polyester and canvas with UV protection are particularly suitable. Store it carefully: rinse away sand and salt residue, dry thoroughly and store in a cool and dry location. Do not leave fabric and metal components out overnight as this could expose them to moisture that can weaken them over time.

Fail #7: Setup Struggle

Imagine arriving at the beach only to spend 20 minutes fighting with your umbrella while your friends swim off into the distance. Sand gets hot underfoot while poles become unbalanced - your patience wears thin quickly.

Some umbrellas may have been poorly designed to facilitate quick assembly. Others feature complex mechanisms or loose parts which require considerable assembly effort.

Opt for an ergonomic design. Look out for features like one-click locking, push-button tilt and detachable sand anchors to reduce chances of error. Practice at home before heading out. Understanding how it all works will save both time and embarrassment! Opt for compact models - lightweight umbrellas with carrying bags make transportation and assembly much simpler.

AMMSUN beach umbrellas are engineered for easy tool-free installation: simply twist, anchor, tilt and relax!
